New style mobile libraries for Rwanda
Our new style mobile libraries are powered by electricity, rather than donkey drawn, so they can cover a larger area and carry more books! Lack of reading materials handicaps literacy and limits the ability to learn. The mobile libraries are particularly valued by women who missed out on schooling because of war. Because books can be borrowed to read at home, it provides flexibility that is particularly useful for those with other commitments.
We are very proud of the fact that the new improved mobile library has been designed and made in Rwanda (at a cost of £6,000). Our decade long experience of funding donkey drawn libraries in sub Saharan Africa suggesting that they are a perfect way of boosting educational opportunities.
